Clifton B. Cook was born in 1909. His enlistment state was Wisconsin, but his wife lived in Oregon. On Monday July 17th, 1944, Cook was wounded in battle. He was shot in the abdomen causing peritonitis (inflammation of the membrane lining the abdominal wall) and atelectasis (complete or partial collapse of a lung). The atelectasis was acute, and may not have been because of the injury. He had intestine resection, but unfortunately passed away.

He is buried at the American Cemetery and Memorial in  Normandy, France.
He earned the Purple Heart Medal and was in the 445th Infantry 29th Division.
